We have a lot of people ask us why we are different. We like to say that we are different for many reasons but we are mostly different due to our incredible customer service & integrity. Garage door repair can be done by many companies in and around the Metro Atlanta area. The difference is we will only use reliable parts that are tested and we will always be here for you when you need us. Garage door repair is a speciality of ours. We do our best to make the appointment when you are available and we do everything in our power to make our appointments on time.

Our most common garage door repair calls are for broken garage door springs, broken garage door cables, garage doors being off track, and broken garage door openers. We even get our fair share of doors customers have tried to drive through. We can either replace garage door sections or help you pick out a new door. We can match custom garage doors as well.

Garage door spring changes are very popular due to the amount of homes and the age of homes in the North Metro Atlanta area. We provide spring changes for torsion and extension. We also convert wayne dalton torque master springs to torsion. Please let us know when you call if you have a Wayne Dalton Torque Master. You can identify this by the fact you cannot see a spring. The spring is located inside of the torque master tube. Torsion springs are the industry standard and are most commonly installed if we have the headroom.

When customers call us about broken garage door cables it usually means that the tension has come loose on their garage door and it’s typically due to closing the garage on something or a torsion spring broke. We can in most cases reset the cable back into the cable drum. Cables don’t typically break but if they are worn we require changing them if you hire us.

Garage doors come off the track when tension is released from one side or if a garage door roller falls out of the hinge or track. This can be very dangerous because garage doors are very heavy. If not done properly, you can cause damage to your vehicle or even yourself. Call a professional to get the garage door back in the tracks. It in some cases can be a symptom to a bigger problem.

Broken garage door openers or motors can in some cases be easily diagnosed. However, there are a lot of variables. First identify the brand. The most popular brands are LiftMaster, Craftsman, and Genie. You also need to identify if you have a screw drive, belt drive, or a chain drive. Each opener come with their own problems. The opener we get the least calls on are the LiftMaster belt drive.

If your garage door won’t come down, it’s most likely the safety eyes and can in some cases be adjusted by the homeowner. If your garage door won’t go up its most likely the torsion or extension springs.

Whatever your garage door needs are, Aaron Overhead Doors is here to serve you. The garage door repair company only hires the best and we challenge you to check out our reviews page and research our reputation.

If your garage door won’t open, it’s most likely because you have a broken spring or a loose cable. See the broken spring tab to your left. The springs are your counter balance system. Many people believe the garage door opener lifts the door, it actually only guides the door through the tracks. The common theme with broken garage door springs is that the opener will only open about 6 inches off the ground. This is due to the weight of the garage door changing and being much to heavy for the opener to lift it. In many cases, if you still have cables attached and tight, you can use the opener and assist it up from the middle bottom of the door. You’ll also want to assist it down. This is typically easier with two people but it’s a great way to get your car out in the event you have two springs (one is broken) and tight cables.

In other cases if the door won’t open, it could be the opener itself. We suggest diagnosing a few things.

  1. Check to make sure it’s getting power (sometimes the breaker can flip or a GFI outlet needs to be reset
  2. The gear or sprocket is damaged and the chain won’t turn
  3. You can hear noise but nothing is happening – This too can be gear and sprocket but can also be a capacitor
  4. For screw drive openers it’s not uncommon to have to replace the trolley

These are some of the most common. Call us, we can come out and diagnose the issue and offer options for repair.

We want to be very clear! Installing garage door springs is very dangerous and we recommend having a professional do it. That said, there are many tutorials online. Torsion springs have a lot of torque and a lot of people get hurt installing torsion springs. Extension springs are a bit easier if done properly however, please make sure the safety cable is run and secured through the springs. Using the proper tools and having the proper instructions can save you some money from having to pay someone like our company to install your springs for you.

Torsion springs have a life span. The most common if the proper springs are on the door and they are turned to the appropriate torque you get a 10,000 cycle life. If one spring breaks, the other spring is most certainly low on life. Torsion springs should always in every scenario be changed together. Never, only replace one torsion spring. We also want to warn you that you should never use the opener while the torsion spring is broken. This can damage your garage door opener.
There are 3 types of springs for garage doors.

1) Torsion Springs
2) Extension Springs
3) Wayne Dalton Torquemaster

A torsion spring is located above the garage door and can come in many different colors but the most common is black. When a torsion spring breaks, it typically makes a loud noise. If it breaks while the door is in operation the door can be thrown from the tracks leaving your door off tracks and suspended in air.

An extension spring is located alongside the horizontal part of the tracks. If you are standing in between the tracks near the garage door opener head the extension springs should be located to your right and left if you are facing the garage door. Extension springs need to have a safety cable through them so that when the spring breaks it doesn’t hit something, possibly you or a family member.

Wayne Dalton Torquemaster is a setup only Wayne Dalton uses. Wayne Dalton is a garage door company. We do not fix these. We do a torsion or extension conversion depending on the headroom available.

If you have any questions about broken garage door springs, torsion springs, extension springs, or torsion conversion call us and we can give you details.

There are many types of garage door openers. Liftmaster, Craftsman, Chamberlin, and Genie are the most popular. Yes, all can be repaired in most cases.

First establish what type of drive you have. This can be done by locating the motor rail that connects the motor head to the wall. This drives the door up and down the tracks. A J bar is connected to the bar and the back of the door. Once you locate, determine if you have a chain, belt, or screw drive.

If you have a screw drive, they tend to be loud and a bit of high maintenance. We almost always recommend replacing screw drive openers.

If you have a chain drive opener, they can also be loud. However chain drive openers are still very effective and great for very heavy doors. A common problem with chain drive openers is for the gear and sprocket assembly goes bad. It’s an easy fix and can keep your opener running for years to come.

If you have a belt drive opener the most common repair on belt drive openers is the gear assembly. Belt drive openers can be very quiet. We recommend belt drive openers to most of our customers.

The garage door cable is connected to the bottom hinge and the cable drum located at the top right and left side of the garage door. Cable drums sit on the torsion bar. We do not suggest trying to raise the door. The garage door has two cables and there is most likely a lot of tension on the other cable. In a lot of cases the cable isn’t actually broken but rather a loose cable.
This is a broad statement but in most cases we can repair a garage door for between $129 and $450. The cost for parts on garage doors is pretty low. The expense for us is the labor and insurance we maintain. We also consider the gas and time to drive to your home. We offer suggestions for repairs and performance improvements because it’s cheaper to do it while we are there rather than having us come back out. It’s also recommended that you do annual maintenance because in a lot of cases it will prolong the life of your garage door and parts.
