The highly anticipated “Top Garage Doors of 2025” article is finally here! Owner of Aaron Overhead Doors, Ryan Lucia, takes great pride in finding and evaluating the highest quality garage doors on the market. Every year, Ryan writes an article sharing his findings on the top garage doors that consumers can purchase and have installed. With the year-over-year awards for garage doors producing the best ROI of any home improvement project, garage doors are no longer the black sheep of home improvements—they’re a hot commodity!
This year is a bit different from previous years since the competition between manufacturers has become fierce, and each brand has expanded its unique product line.
In this comprehensive guide, you will learn which doors can instantly increase your curb appeal, ultimately giving you a huge return on your investment. When Ryan evaluates garage doors, he focuses on analyzing the quality of the door, the manufacturer of the door, and the overall aesthetics. Many factors are taken into consideration when compiling this article!
This guide is created to help you decide which garage door would be the best fit for your home in 2021. Garage doors have come a long way in appearance and quality. The race was very close, so we will also give honorable mentions this year!
Without further ado, here are the top 10 garage doors in 2025 are…
10. Clopay Bridgeport Stamped Steel Garage Door
This door is designed with simplicity in mind. The Clopay Bridgeport is hands down one of Ryan’s favorite steel doors of all time! It comes in one, two, or three-layer construction. You can choose from wide or narrow panel designs. Also, you control whether or not you want windows on your garage door. You even get to select the placement of the windows!
The Bridgeport now comes in 16 different colors, including their popular Ultra Grain Wood look and newer lustra matte finishes. If you have the budget and really need the door to match a color, inquire about their colorblast option. Ryan recommends the three-layer option, as the other two look the same from the outside. The one and two-layer doors are cheaper for lower budgets and are considered “builder grade.” Invest the extra money to enhance your experience by choosing the three-layer insulated door. The R-values range from 6.3 to 18.4. You can also choose from a 2” or 1 ⅜” door, allowing for plenty of size customizations.
If you choose to get windows, which Ryan thinks helps to break up some of the door’s simplicity, you’ll love the larger windows this garage door has compared to most steel doors on the market. Not to mention, they actually cut the arch into the window, where most manufacturers cut 90-degree corners and provide a plastic insert, which gives the appearance of an arch. This door is affordable and can be a great way to increase curb appeal on a budget!
An honorable mention and a close second to this door is the Haas 2000 Series Recessed.
9. Amarr Classica Carriage Stamp Garage Door
The Amarr Classica is indeed a classic when it comes to unique garage doors! What makes the Classica unique are the taller sections on the door. Ryan himself had a Classica on his home for a long time and is somewhat partial to this particular garage door.
This door is made of steel, but the characteristics of it are similar to those of a wooden door makeup. For example, most custom wood doors come in three sections. The Amarr Classica is one of a few steel doors with three total sections. This door comes in a 2” thickness and a one, two, or three-layer construction. Unlike most steel doors, the Amarr Classica does not come in a three-layer polystyrene option. The only three-layer option available is the urethane-insulated door, which can cause the price to jump significantly from their two-layer option.
You’ll love the large windows and price point of the one and two-layer! However, with larger sections come a few challenges. It is not recommended that you install this door on a 1” or 2” radius as the sections are 24 – 32” tall, which could cause challenges. We recommend a low headroom track, a 15” radius or higher, and a high lift. If you have the headroom for a 20” radius, do it!
The Classica moved away from a questionable design with pinch-proof hinges and now offers a more traditional leaf hinge. This is good news for buyers! The new hinges are quieter and more durable. If you like carriage-style garage doors, this one is a great fit. You can choose from around 100 colors and designs. They offer a door design tool that will make finding your perfect garage door easier.
The cons of this garage door are the plastic inserts, which do not match the overall quality of the door. That’s about it…unless you’re installing it yourself. Getting the top section of the three-layer door in can be challenging, but this usually isn’t a problem for professional installers.
8. Clopay Canyon Ridge Garage Door
Clopay had to invest a lot of money in developing the Canyon Ridge Garage Doors, which may be why they charge so much! There are tons of options when choosing from Canyon Ridge Garage Doors. Aaron Overhead Doors sells high-end doors regularly, but even the wealthiest people we partner with feel pain when receiving a quote for Canyon Ridge. The question they always ask is: “Is it worth it?”
Ryan has never personally owned a Canyon Ridge for his home, but he loves the product. If you’re looking for something unique and durable, the Canyon Ridge may be the best fit for you. It comes in a four and five-layer construction on a urethane steel door. If you want a garage door that looks like wood and you are willing to pay around the same price while still having some upkeep, you may want to consider Canyon Ridge.
We know what you’re thinking…How can you rate this garage door so highly when it sounds like you don’t like it? The Canyon Ridge is not for the faint of heart, but it’s beautiful and one of the few highly aesthetic doors with high energy efficiency. If energy efficiency is a concern, this is an amazing option. Many homeowners and builders want wood garage doors, but also want to achieve the highest possible energy efficiency, and Clopay Canyon Ridge is a great solution for this.
The options for installation can be overwhelming, but you’ll likely want to lay eyes on the garage door first before buying. If you’re in the Metro Atlanta area, Aaron Overhead Doors invested a pretty penny so we could put one in our showroom. Not many people are willing to spend this kind of money on a garage door, but when they are willing, they want to see it in person first. We totally understand! Clopay has texture options, color options, design options, window options, and more. The biggest challenge you’ll have is deciding on all the design options! Clopay also has a garage door design tool to help you with that!
7. Haas American Traditions Overlay Garage Door
The Haas American Traditions is exactly what the name suggests, which is saying a lot nowadays. It’s sturdy, beautiful, and well-designed. One of the most common challenges with overlay doors is their quality and longevity. However, the American Traditions door is well-built and backed by an amazing company that takes pride in its reputation and warranty. When investing in a premium garage door, you want to have a great installing company and a manufacturer that cares about you and the products they manufacture. This is why Haas Door and Aaron Overhead Doors are a match made in heaven!
Haas isn’t playing around with this garage door! They recently rolled out a modern design to show off their capabilities as manufacturers, simply because they love this look. This garage door may be a fan favorite with designers seeking the best bang for their buck. While these doors aren’t necessarily “cheap,” they are technically affordable for the quality and design you get. This door is exactly what Remodeling Magazine discusses in their 2024 Cost vs Value Report.
We love that this garage door’s overlay can be customized and ordered in darker colors, including black. That is unique to this garage door, and not many overlay doors can accomplish it with such ease. Many homeowners and designers want the overlay doors in odd sizes, but most doors don’t allow that level of customization. However, the American Traditions Garage Door does.
You can choose from ten solid base color options, five wood grain color options, and fifteen overlay color options, which can be mixed and matched to find the perfect color match. Alongside the colors, this door has ten window options and forty-two total models with multiple style options. Again, we’ve got you covered to simplify decision-making; visit their door design tool!
Now, to get into the cons… but there aren’t many. We never had any issues with this door until recently (seriously, just last week!), but Haas stood behind the product and made it right. That’s all you can ask for these days!
6. Clopay Modern Steel Ultra Grain Plank Garage Door
For the longest time, C.H.I. Overhead Doors had the crown for the best steel faux wood plank door on the market. They were the ones who invented a realistic printed design, but not without some issues. Over the years, they improved, but the design got lost due to natural fading after installing the garage door. Other manufacturers tried to copy with poor results or repetitive patterns that lost the realistic look of a wood plank door. That is… until Clopay rolled out their Modern Steel Ultra Grain Plank Garage Door! This door is both beautifully designed and well-built. Clopay hit a home run and does an amazing job of building beautiful doors for design-minded homeowners or home designers.
Enough gushing; let’s get into the details. This door comes in a 3-layer insulated construction with Clopay’s Intellicore polyurethane foam insulation, with an average R-value of 18×4. You can choose from a limited six ultra-grain plank wood look finishes and many window options in placement and size. We love how Clopay offers so many options with their windows! Your garage door’s windows can be contemporary and slim with silver or black frames, short (pretty boring, but we won’t judge!), or long.
This door is very affordable for its look and quality. It’s also energy efficient, as an 18 R-value is much more than most homeowners have in their walls. We recommend this door with vertically stacked windows down one side, but of course, the final decision is up to you. If you can dream it, Clopay can make it happen!
Cons: There aren’t many. We know it’s cliché, but it’s hard to really complain about this door! The warranty is exceptional for a wood-like door design. If we had to choose, the significant issue with Clopay would be how our deliveries show up. In some cases, doors are damaged in transit, resulting in a bad experience for all involved.
5. Clopay Vertistack Avante Glass Garage Door
This new concept from Cloypay solves many problems for homeowners. Glass garage doors have been added to basements, living rooms, countertops, restaurants, bar tops, and more. They aren’t just for garages anymore. They are a statement piece! That said, the track for the door is not… unless you like the industrial look. The Clopay Vertistack Avante easily solves this problem by having the door stack vertically into plates installed on each side of the opening at the top. This is an amazing evolution of the “garage door” and the “glass garage door.” Not only do you eliminate the garage door track, but you also eliminate the garage door opener, resulting in a cleaner look altogether. We can’t confirm the quality since we haven’t installed one at the time of this article’s publication. We have spoken to other dealers who have installed them, and they commented on the difficulty of the installation. Other than that, they had nothing but great things to say!
Let’s explore some of the nitty-gritty details. It has many window options and a durable, low-maintenance 2-⅝” commercial-grade aluminum frame. Like most aluminum glass doors, you can choose from anodized, painted, or powder-coated finishes, allowing for ample customization. Window options matter, so be sure that you do your research! This door also offers tempered glass, acrylic, polycarbonate, or solid aluminum panels.
One interesting aspect of this door is that you can order it with Intellicore polyurethane insulated stiles and rails with a 3.8 R-value. You also have the option to add tempered insulated glass to increase efficiency. But, let’s be honest, does the increased investment in insulated frames and glass provide you with cost savings on utilities? Most likely not, or at least not in this lifetime, but for most, it’s peace of mind.
However, please note that there are height and width restrictions on the Vertistack Avante Door.
Cons: Since this design is so new, we really don’t have enough data to provide any cons. For that same reason, we could have ranked it higher, but we would like to see it in the wild and operating for a few years before we can truly award it the #1 spot. It should be part of the conversation after a few years. We think the Vertistack is a homerun.
4. Ranch House Custom Wood Door
This is for the woodworking enthusiasts, homeowners, or designers who appreciate authenticity and attention to detail. Ranch House Doors has a custom line, where if you can dream it up, they can make it a reality! These experts in wood, craftsmanship, and design are easy to work with and build the best, most beautiful wood doors on the market. Hand-made in the heart of Southern California, Aaron Overhead Doors has been using Ranch House for 10 years, and they never disappoint. These doors are built on a wood frame and can be insulated with various options for the door’s internal support and aesthetics. You can choose your wood species, design, cuts, and more.
This is a custom door, so it can be made to just about any specifications. When it comes to any wood door, it’s best to invest in one that is well-built and designed to last a long time, or you’ll be replacing it within 5 to 10 years.
Ranch House has strict guidelines for caring for these doors and protecting them from the elements. It’s best to schedule routine maintenance with a painter or someone specializing in wood staining.
You won’t regret how beautiful it is when you pull up to your home and see just how detailed and well-made your garage door is. Your family will wonder why it takes you so long to come inside… You are too busy admiring your Ranch House Wood Garage Door! No faux wood door will ever compete with a real wood door’s natural look and feel, and no one does it better than Ranch House Doors.
3. Martin Pinnacle Series Overlay Door
Although not real wood, these doors are rugged, unique, and beautiful. We LOVE this door in the wood tones. We had the opportunity to photograph this door while in Arizona, and it did not disappoint. Although it is photogenic, seeing it in real life left us awestruck! We aren’t exaggerating!
This door is built to last a lifetime (our words, not Martin’s). It’s well-built and durable, requiring little to no maintenance on the face of the door. Martin did an incredible job providing depth with the overlay, wood-tone colors, and shadows. This door is a tank, but arguably the most beautiful tank you’ve ever seen. The metal overlay on a metal door solves so many problems of faux or composite wood overlays. Ryan had an overlay door on one of his homes that got cut/damaged, but was soon patched. However, the concern with overlay doors is replacing a panel and certain aspects of the door not lining up, be it the wood grain or the shading.
When shopping for an overlay, you want durability since the smallest dent or ding can cause more damage than you would like. Some manufacturers won’t sell you sections, and you have to buy the entire overlay door again, minus the tracks and hardware. That’s a costly mistake you don’t want to make! The Martin Pinnacle Series is built with such strength that you shouldn’t be able to damage the door easily.
Garage door details are important, so let’s examine some of this door’s specifics. It is made of 24-gauge steel, while most competitors boast 26-gauge steel. There are lots of options for designing the layout and windows. We love the double-center-style grooved long panel angles look.
There are six standard colors and three wood grain colors. Martin brags about the protective system these doors are made with, offering eight different protection layers. The embossed steel complements the wood tone colors well. The standard insulated door has an R-value of 8, but you can upgrade and have the steel frame insulated for an R-value of R-14.
Cons: They are in Utah and just got acquired recently, but before the acquisition, it was difficult to get their product outside the Midwest. This resulted in high shipping costs that can kill a deal for the mid-market. This door isn’t cheap, so if we’re talking top of the budget, you’ll want to get the shipping cost quoted ASAP to ensure it doesn’t throw you out of budget. Alternatively, you can go over budget and get this amazing door with no regrets… and seriously, we mean no regrets!
2. ArmRLite Titan Glass Garage Door
We’re down to the top two, which was a difficult decision. Some would hear us speak about ArmRLite with such admiration and think we have a crush on them… which isn’t entirely false. That’s why it was so hard not to give them the number one spot! As a matter of fact, Ryan could choose from any door, and he has an 18×8 ArmRLite Titan glass garage door in his home. That’s how you know they’re good!
Let’s start with why we love ArmRLite. They are woman-led and focus on amazing customer service. These days, reliable customer service is hard to come by. They also never sacrifice quality, ever! They are the only company we’ve ever seen that welds their aluminum frames, providing a 20-year warranty (unless you’re close to the ocean). We sell so many of these doors from ArmRLite that the relationship between our team and theirs is as tight as possible. This matters since they take feedback very seriously. When manufacturing products you aren’t installing, it’s important to hear what your installing dealers say. Not to mention the industry-leading turnaround time.
We could say so much more, but we promised the top 10 garage doors in 2025, and we don’t want to make you wait any longer!
Now that you’ve heard how much we love ArmRLite, let’s discuss the product at hand: Titan. Although ArmRLite has many models, we chose the Titan for its durability, strength, and beauty.
You can select anodized or powder-coated finishes, glass options, and features like a pass-through door, tilt-up windows, or the energy efficiency package. This comes with urethane-injected frames and insulated glass. They are also very knowledgeable about ADA compliance and third-party testing of their products. We did a job for the Atlanta Falcons, two 24×14 insulated frames and insulated glass doors that only ArmRLite could make. We wouldn’t have tried that with any other manufacturer!
When it comes to glass doors, no one knows them better than ArmRLite. We should know because we are a glass garage door sales and installation leader.
Let’s examine the specifics of the Titan. The Titan is their most popular glass overhead garage door, boasting a max width of 24’2 “. With their unmatched 20-year welded frame warranty, it’s easy to invest in something well-built and backed by the best in the business!
The aluminum ArmRLite uses 6063-T6 alloy, which is heli-arc welded. With the perfect blend of support and small frames, you have the perfect combination of durability and beauty to complement your home. If you’re seeking wind-load glass garage doors, there is only one choice!
Popular colors include black, red, clear anodized, and dark bronze.
It’s worth noting that there are a plethora of options for glass, including tempered in 1”, ¼”, ⅛”, ⅝”, and 7/16”. You can also choose from different glazing options: acoustic, acrylic, custom, DSB/Annealed, frosted, hurricane/impact, insulated, laminated, polycarbonate, tempered/safety, and tinted.
Cons: Because they outsource the powder coating, the price can jump significantly if you choose this option. But if you have the money or want to go with anodized, it’s a clear choice here. ArmRLite’s Titan is second to none when it comes to glass garage doors.
1. Vidor Shoreline Series
We first found Vidor on Instagram and then met with their team at a garage door industry event. Like ArmRLite, they take pride in their trade. It’s art, and there is no disputing the artistic ability to make doors this beautiful!
These doors are 2” urethane, with 18 R-Value and four-layer overlay doors. Every door is custom to your needs, making them some of the most customizable garage doors on the market. Hand-painted with the most talented artists in the industry, these stunning doors look as realistic as possible. Compared to Clopay’s Canyon Ridge in terms of price and door type, it requires less maintenance and has a more flexible design and warranty.
We love that Vidor does an amazing job showing off their work, making it easier for customers to decide once they showcase the final product. If you’re in the market for a Vidor Shoreline, budget cannot be your number one focus. This door is a piece of art that only you will own. It will not just complement your home; Vidor will be the talking point for everyone who passes by your house. You’ll want to sit and admire it due to the pure beauty and uniqueness of the door.
The Shoreline is a carriage house door design featuring a full overlay of composite material on top of a steel door. We suggest challenging them with your wildest garage door dreams to see if it’s possible because they can make it happen.
When speaking to Vidor’s founder, you can hear his passion and enthusiasm for challenges and masterful works of art. He takes great pride in creating unique designs and challenging the status quo for garage doors.
The door’s construction is a 2 ½” injected polyurethane insulated door with an 18 R-Value. You can order panels as tall as 18”, 21”, and 24” with a max width of 20’2” and a max height of 14’. The Shoreline is backed by a limited lifetime delamination warranty, 10-year finish adhesion, and 1-year components.
Cons: You’ll be so excited to get your door that it may cause unwanted anxiety… but it will all pay off once it is installed.
